Can I get Stem Cells in Switzerland in 2025?
Yes, you can get Stem Cell Treatments using your own cells in Switzerland. But there’s some caveats.
According to Swissmedic’s Legal Framework governing the use of tissues and cells of human origin, they state if stem cells are heavily manipulated i.e cultured in a lab to offer higher dosages, it falls under different regulations. In simple terms, right now they’re not allowed.
Just to re-iterate, high dosage treatments are NOT legally allowed in Switzerland.
To perform Stem Cell Treatments, clinics must:
- Obtain a Cantonal medical-facility licence
- Doctor that holds a Swiss medical licence
- Follow Standard clinical hygiene practices. They don’t need to b GMP compliant but it’s definitely not a bad thing if they are!

Do Clinics in Switzerland use Bone Marrow or Adipose Tissue derived Stem Cells?
In Switzerland, clinics are allowed to use cells both from your own bone marrow or fat tissue, as long as they stay within the “minimally manipulated and homologous use” category defined by Swissmedic and the Federal Office of Public Health
This means:
- MSC cells from either source are not “isolated” and re-injected
- The cells are just cleaned and concentrated, nothing is added or changed in a lab.
- They’re used for the correct purpose e.g only Bone Marrow derived cells are used for orthopedic issues.
- No culturing is done to the cells.
- The cells are re-injected the same day
Can I get Umbilical cord derived MSC Stem Cell Treatment in Germany?
According to Swissmedic’s Legal framework governing the use of tissues and cells of human origin & Requirements for activities with umbilical cord tissue, no, you can’t get Umbilical Cord derived Stem Cell treatments in Switzerland.
Even to just store Umbilical cord derived MSCs for trial purposes, you need a Swissmedic license.

Best Stem Cell Therapy clinics Across Europe & Asia
We don’t let any clinic just sign up or pay to be listed.
We speak to every clinic directly and review their medical team, the treatments they offer, how their stem cells are sourced and how they follow up with patients after treatment.
We also review licensing documents to confirm they meet the legal and medical standards of the country they operate in. For example, whether cells are processed in a GMP-certified facility or if they provide documentation on stem cell quality.
Clinics must also agree to let us collect and publish independent patient reviews. Both positive and negative.

Compare ClinicsIs Switzerland better than Germany for Stem Cell Treatments?
Honestly, both countries are pretty much the same when it comes to what treatments are allowed and regulations of clinics/hospitals.
Legally, both countries allow same day, autologous, minimally manipulated Stem Cell Treatments.
And both countries have strict general medical practices too.
Of course, in both countries you can get clinics operating outside of regulations, that may offer good treatment protocols as well. But they’re just operating outside of the law.
Outside of Switzerland, where else can I get Stem Cell Treatments in Europe?
Outside of Switzerland, you can also get Stem Cell Treatments in the likes of Germany, the UK, Turkey & Ukraine
Germany and the UK are much stricter and you’ll mainly find clinics offering autologous stem cell treatments that have not been manipulated or cultured.
In Turkey & Ukraine, you can get a much wider variety of treatments for all sorts of conditions. Umbilical cord derived treatments are not legal in these countries, but enforcement is a lot weaker.
